Introduction
Steelpad
has several models made out of aluminum, but as I’m sure we’re all aware, aluminum is an expensive material to use. In order to offer a high quality gaming oriented mouse pad at a lower price point, they chose to use plastic on the 4D. Does it stack up to the heavy weights from Ratpadz and Everglide?
The 4D is a very large pad, 290mm in length, by 357mm wide. It’s also extremely thin, only 2mm with its rubber base. This makes it stand apart from most plastic pads, which are much thicker.
Another unique feature of the 4D is that it’s two-sided. One side is a rougher matte black finish (pictured), for those that like a bit of movement resistance on a mouse pad. The other side is a very shiny, very smooth surface that is very low resistance for a plastic pad.
This rubber mat serves as the “mouse feet” and works with either side, you simply place the pad on top of the mat. Despite not being actually attached to the mouse pad, this mat holds it in place very well, and also wont require a lot of cleaning like some pads with only a few small feet.
