Introduction
Once upon a time, in the good ‘ol days of yore, came a game called Elite. Released originally on the BBC Micro way back in 1984, and later on numerous platforms thereafter. It was in was in a class of its own. One of the first games to ever really provide a sense of depth to gaming, beyond the 2D and into the realm of 3D. (of course it wasn’t really 3D, it was simply primitive 2D polygons and objects drawn to look 3D).
Anyway, the game was basically a space-fairing trading/real time space-battling game, in which the 3D positioning system was truly ground breaking. However, games have come along way since then, but nothing has come close to Elite until now, until………Drum roll……Freelancer!
